4th of July Date: Planning the Perfect Patriotic Meetup with Your Dating Site Match

Happy 4th of July - USA Flag - Couple Looking at the Sky

Whether it’s eHarmonyElite Singles, or Zoosk, it doesn’t matter where you met them. What matters is that you’ve finally found your perfect match—and right before the July 4th holiday. It doesn’t get any better than that!

You asked, and they accepted; however, you don’t want just any 4th of July date—you want something fun yet patriotic.

We’ve got you covered. Here are 8 exciting activity ideas to Wow! your date on Independence Day.

8 Patriotic and Fun 4th of July Date Ideas

Remember the happy times you had as a child on Independence Day? What’s preventing you from having those same emotions now that you’re an adult?

Instead of sitting around and waiting for the fireworks to light up the night sky, stop postponing your fun. Go out and enjoy the entire day during the holiday.

Here are eight excellent ways to create a memorable Independence Day for you and your date.

1. Follow Your Tradition

As a child, you may have had a ritual every July 4th, like going to the lake. Why don’t you and your date do the same? Sharing food and childhood stories is an excellent way to get to know someone better.

Another option is to start a new tradition with your date. If you used to go to the lake as a kid, try the park for a morning hike or bike ride.

Who knows, maybe years later, you’ll take your children to the park every holiday and tell them how you first met. (We’re optimistic over here.)

2. Raise the Flag

Do this first thing in the morning. The night before, schedule a time (the earlier, the better) with your match, and raise the U.S. flag in front of your home.

If you want to add more patriotism to the event, sing the Star Spangled Banner or the national anthem.

It may sound corny, but it’s really not. Showing appreciation for your country and its people is the perfect way to begin the day. Cap off the morning by enjoying a picnic breakfast and some coffee in the yard.

3. Go For Brunch

But not just any brunch. Pick one with a patriotic theme. You can enjoy patriotic puff pastries or biscuits with July 4th jam. You’ll have a good time trying all the new themed dishes, plus it’s also an excellent way to show respect on this special day.

4. Cook Together

If you’re looking for something more fun than romantic (although cooking together can be romantic, too), bake cookies or even a Fourth of July cake together.

Stay within the patriotic theme by frosting them with red, white, and blue icing. Or, if you’re feeling adventurous, prepare an entire meal that stays within the patriotic theme. Make it a competition; the loser cleans up the kitchen.

3. Check Out Patriotic Movies

If you’re not into crowds or just want to spend time alone with your match to get to know them better, you can relax at home and still show some patriotic spirit. Download, or pick up a few DVDs with a holiday theme. Some examples include:

  • Born on the Fourth of July
  • Independence Day
  • The Patriot
  • 1776
  • Hacksaw Ridge
  • Glory
  • Patton
  • Courage Under Fire

6. Plan a Road Trip

Make your 4th of July date a road trip. Keep it patriotic by adorning your car with little flags and removable stickers.

Even if you’re only driving around a few blocks with your decorated car instead of the next town, you still demonstrate your love for your country.

If you decide to venture over to the next town, visit a diner for some good eats. Every small town has a least one quaint diner that goes all out for a patriotic party.

7. Enjoy a Campfire

For a first date, you want to get to know your match, so cozying up by a crackling campfire is an excellent choice to learn more about each other

You can rent a lakeside cabin or hit the beach for a late-night bonfire. You’ll have some quality time while watching the fireworks brighten the evening sky.

8. Try DIY Fireworks

…and speaking of fireworks, if you have children around or enjoy lighting up the dark sky, purchase some sparklers and fireworks with your date. You’ll have a good time lighting up each other’s life! (No? What about becoming the sparkle of each other’s eyes?)

Use these fun first-date ideas to have a great time with your match. Just remember always to have fun responsibly while respecting and honoring your country. Happy Independence Day!
